Kintsugi Workshop - Marufun Class
Traditional Kintsugi "Marufun Class" (advanced finishing with larger grains of metal powder), by Ai Shimizu
Madame Shimizu of Urujyu from Kyoto is offering an advanced class for finishing with larger grains of metal powder with Marufun. The "Marufun Class" is to learn how to repair chipped ceramic using traditional kintsugi techniques, including the application of urushi lacquer. Additionally, you will be instructed on the various marufun finishing procedures, such as the final polishing step. Marufun produces a more pronounced metallic sheen compared to the keshifun method utilized in other workshops. The utilization of marufun gold represents the epitome of luxury in kintsugi finishing. For this class, we will be using marufun silver. In just 2 hours, you can master all the necessary steps, a process that typically takes weeks to complete.
Fee: 265 euros per person for the workshop (including a kintsugi kit + other necessary materials).
165 euros (basic kit not included) only if you have already purchased an Urujyu kintsugi kit from us or if you have all suitable materials and tools to use in the class.
(payment when reserving)
The kit will be provided in the class or you have to bring all suitable materials and tools depending of the price option you choose.
We will provide broken pieces to repair (personal objects will not be used), other special materials and tools in the class.
